“Dames, Rayguns & Robots” is imagined as a lost mid-century comic book publisher that never existed—but absolutely should have. The gallery show presents original cover art, oversized panels, pulp-style posters, and faux archival materials from this fictional company, all celebrating the fierce, complicated women at the center of its universe. These aren’t sidekicks or space-age pinups; outlaw scientists bending the laws of physics, android whisperers, bounty hunters, and reluctant revolutionaries. The work leans into the bold color palettes and melodrama of vintage sci-fi comics—chrome robots, neon rayguns, atomic backdrops—while quietly subverting the tropes that once sidelined women. Through humor, retro spectacle, and sharp storytelling, the exhibition reframes pulp nostalgia as a space where strength is stylish, intellect is dangerous, and heroism belongs unapologetically to the dames.
